The Pasadena/ Altadena Ivy Foundation in partnernship with the Pasadena/ Altadena Chaper of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. conducted a Virtual Arts Program that exposed participants to arts enrichment and culture by focusing on the arts and celebrating the contributions of African American artists. Program initiatives showcased talent through the exploration of writers, entertainers and various other visual and performing artists and media.
This included a Salute to the Harlem Renaissance through student’s research and chapter sponsorship of student talent showcases. This initiative correlated with HBCUs and African American culture and included Junior High participants.
A second part of the program included a Salute to the Black Arts Movement where students did research and celebration of African American artists during the Black Arts Movement. Activities included art events, poetry slams, dancing, painting, and performing arts.
